Class Information

Dear Families,

WELCOME to what we know will be a WONDERFUL school year!

Communication
Our school has a paperless communication system via Google+. If you are not a member of Google+, please contact us or Steve Whitehead. We will also be using other forms of online communication, which will include online student journals and private messaging options. More information will be provided on the acquaintance night in week 3. Throughout the year, we share a large amount of information via both systems that are not available in any other format. You may contact your teacher via the following methods: a personal post on Google +, phone call or email and we will respond as soon as we can.

Take Home Folder
Each day your child will bring home their Take Home Folder (blue pouch). Your child’s folder will contain reading materials, important notices and any required home learning. Your child is responsible for returning any permission notices from their home folder. Please remind them if there is something to give to their class teacher. Any cash payments are required to be paid at the finance office.

Healthy Snack
Children in Year 2 can nibble on their healthy snack at any time, as long as it does not disrupt their lessons. This will usually occur during the morning. Only nutritional foods that are raw, clean and easy to nibble on such as fruit and veggies. Please no sweets, sandwiches etc for snack time. Children will be able to keep their own drink bottle in the classroom. Water only, not juice or cordial.

Nuts
Ardtornish Primary School is a nut aware school. Please do not send any nuts or nut products to school.

School Times
The school day starts at 8:50am and ends at 3:15pm.
Junior primary students who arrive between 8:35am and 8:50am will be supervised in the junior primary yard only.
They can leave their school bag by their classroom if the door is locked but then must go straight to the JP playground as this is the area with teacher supervision.
At 8:50am, students will line up outside their classroom This is the time for parents/caregivers to say goodbye to their child before they enter the classroom as we will be encouraging all students to independently prepare for the day and be ready to start learning at 8:55am.
Where possible please use Google+, online communication or call the office for any day to day morning communication.
If your child arrives after 9.00am you must report to the front office before coming to class.

Clothing
All students are expected to be in full uniform every day. Please clearly label all clothing and hats so we can find the rightful owner. Please be aware that your child will need their hats each day in term one as our school has no hat – no play policy. PE day is Tuesday for both Rooms 29 and 27. Please ensure your child has appropriate footwear on this day.

Library borrowing/returns
Room 27 and 29 will have 2 library times per week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please place any books to be returned in their take home folders.

Volunteers
Volunteers are an important part of our class learning. Volunteers will be sought after student routines are in place.
